A Massive Winter Storm Brings a Chilling Forecast for the US

The weather system will first form in Texas and New Mexico, then move eastward, affecting cities like Memphis, Nashville, Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York with heavy snowfall.

The NWS advises, 'With extreme cold temperatures, expect prolonged snow and ice impacts, including hazardous travel conditions, power outages, tree damage, snow-covered roads, and reduced visibility.'
Governors in states like Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina have declared states of emergency, allowing emergency officials and National Guard troops to mobilize response efforts. The state of Texas, in particular, is taking proactive measures to ensure residents have the necessary resources before the severe winter weather hits.
These warnings come as a stark reminder of the 2021 Texas winter storm, which caused a failure in the energy grid and left millions without power for days.
